Ocracoke Lighthouse – Ocracoke Island, NC.
The Ocracoke Lighthouse was constructed in 1823 as a replacement for the wooden
lighthouse and keeper’s quarters located on nearby Shell Castle Island, which were
destroyed by lightning in 1818.
